Meet the Founder
Ebony Ellis (she/her/hers) is an explorer, avid off-the-beaten-path traveler, and international educator. She received a Bachelor's degree in History and Education from Albany State University, Georgia, and a Master's in Leisure, Youth, and Human Services from the University of Northern Iowa.
HerStory
As the founder of Aventurine Global, Ebony focuses on intercultural storytelling and self-discovery, creating tools and frameworks that help young people and educators engage the world with curiosity, courage, and intention. Her work in international education has taken me around the world, from the U.S. Department of Defense to the K-16 education abroad space, and into strategic partnerships and educational sales consultancy. During her tenure at the University of Michigan, she served as a senior advisor and lecturer at the Center for Global and Intercultural Study. She spent many years supporting military families, children, and youth throughout the world in various capacities. She is the co-creator of the Global Education Equity Empowerment Framework, an academically reviewed tool that empowers global on-site teams to foster equity in their interactions. Ebony's own journey into the world of international education began during her undergraduate experience when she participated in an international internship program. That experience was the first time she had flown on an airplane or traveled beyond the southeast region of the U.S. Throughout her career, she has spent a significant amount of time living and working abroad. Her journey into what she considers the "unknown" continues to take her on unforgettable and life-changing adventures.
